          Well 4K is darn slow to take off for local TV broadcast. , I can image 8k following the 4K path.

              Consider this cable or SATELITE cannot even give us 1080 P currently only ppv , and I have two of the few that offer 1080 P fios and driect tv
              it may come down to bandwidth so as 4 K and that is many times 4 k I do not see it coming at all. Unless there is some kind up converter technology to extract it from current formats. And here is something I have been reading for awhile now Internet will be like a data package meaning limited not just in speed but monthly.

                          They barely have 720i and the broadcast industry sure isn't going to jump to 4K. Not with the bandwidth they have. No high rez will be the province of streaming as I see it.

                              4K is not one of the 18 approved ATSC formats by the FCC so they would have to change the law before they could start broadcasting in 4K over the air.
