not if designed correctly and the right drivers are used.

I have the Pure Audio Project Trio 10 with Voxativ. Check out their website. Mine are on their site. There is a salt lamp at the bottom of the picture. I'm very impressed. My crossover has 1 choke, 1 cap and 2 resistors. Very simple. The frame is aluminum and very well done. The bass drivers are Morel 10". They go to 40 hertz. Check out their website. You can purchase parts as separates from them. Drivers, crossover, frame, baffle. If you have a woodshop, have at it. They will sell you the drivers and crossover.

If you're into vintage drivers, take a look at this article from Joseph Esmilla: http://jelabsarch.blogspot.com/2012/...ffle.html

I've heard these with both Altec 755Cs and Altec 604s and they sound quite good. Worth a try if you can find the drivers.

If you're open to hyrbid planar magnetic open baffle designs, the classic Infinity IRS-Gamma and IRS-Beta Technical specs & schematics can be downloaded from Infinity-classics website.
