IMO the listening room or listening space should be as good looking, warm and cozy as the rest of the house or apartment. I’m not for dark colours, light neutral with contrasting accents is my preference. Same goes for furniture and other decorations.

All the acoustic treatments match the wall color.

I personally like rooms with more earthy tones (beige, taupe and those with a reddish tint to them). And while I've seen some wonderful rooms in grey it's not a colour I could personally live with. A room should also reflect your personality and other interests. I think it makes a space more interesting and inviting, plus I believe it helps you to relax more easily. Oh, and having a beer fridge and/or a wine cooler would also be very convenient.

Except when it turns on. I had a small fridge in my previous room and ended up unplugging it.

True enough. Maybe just a portable cooler then for a few cold ones or a bottle of wine.

Perhaps transparent would be the appropriate audiophile hue, completely uncoloured? Music lovers on the other hand may differ, something warmer, richer perhaps?

Some color is nice especially if the room is a neutral shade. Click image for larger version
