  • Hifi tage Hamburg Germany 7/2-2016

Going to Hamburg Sunday for Hifi tage 7/2-2016 in Hamburg, Germany, with 3 good friends just as mad as me.

I want to get inspired again, I am simply hopeless :-)

Thanks just spoke to Conrad Mas/Avid and Han-Ole Vitus who were just leaving for the show! Hopefully Hans-Ole and Conrad will join the board after the Hamburg show!

Have a great time. Sounds exciting. Bring back some pics for us!!!

I will be back with a report from the Hamburg Hifi tage soon.
There is quite a lot to report, especially from the German cottage industry, damn do they love extreme audio, I am in awe to be honest.
Right now I am just tired after a hifi show marathon and a 3 hour traffic jam in Hamburg and with only 2 hours of sleep before I had to get to work
        Stay tuned

I will start of with something extreme from the german cottage industry.
In this case it is Zugspitz Audio from the deep's in Bavaria, this truly extreme audio, everything is handbuilt with the best materials available with the 833 C triodetube as the power, everything else preamp, speakers and cables are built to suit each other, the sound was out of this world, deeply involving, you just let I happen, this was good, we spent an hour in this room, we found it hard to leave.
This is not your system, if you have children, pets or a busy cleaning wife in the house.

If you ask what the price is, you can not afford it, it is that expensive , 100 k euro ++

The 833 tube is the dream of any audio DIY amplifier builder - 300 W plate dissipation! However it needs 100W for filament and operates typically with over 2000V plate voltage - I would not feel comfortable tweaking it! I am sure the Soundlabs would love a 833 push-pull amplifier.
My opinions rely on listening mainly to acoustical, non amplified music. I do not care about electronic music or listening to rock at stadium levels, but I enjoy Mahler and Shostakovitch.

An other room that really could play music, again a room we spent a lot of time in, was the Voxaktiv room, again with large tube monopoweramps, etc all from Voxaktiv systems incl the topmodel 9.87 speaker.
And the price for this complete system was moderate when comparing to other offerings in the german cottage industry.

Are those original 833s or newly made?

Ever try the WAVACs on your Sound Labs?

There was quite a lot of R2R machines on the show, but not many connected to hear, it seemed as if it is only in its infancy in Germany, the trend with mastertapes.
In Denmark R2R is almost non existing
Some pictures, as expected most are Studer/Revox maschines in Germany.

I'm not familiar with those tapes from STS. I looked them up online and am confused whether they are analog or digital recordings on tape. Do you know?

Thanks so much! I got ahold of them last night on Facebook!

Yes the tapes are all analog. Hey folks, we have #22 here. A new company releasing music on tape out of Holland (plus they also release their music on vinyl and CD).

I've invited them to join the forum and talk more about their tapes releases; at the very least, will hopefully get more information about STS-Digitalshop if not a press release, later today. Any maybe a tape for review for PF! Woo hoo!!!

Again thanks for turning us onto this new company! You rock!
