    For Immediate Release

Rockville MD, June 6, 2016 – Gary Gill, the promoter and owner of the Capital Audiofest announced today an exciting promotion at the upcoming show. “We have had a tradition of giveaways at all of our previous shows; it’s always been a big crowd pleaser. After all who doesn’t like free stuff?” said Gill. “But in the past it has been components and accessories; this year we’ll be giving away an entire system! This is no lightweight system either; it consists of top notch components from VPI, Alta Audio and complete connection suite from Luminous Audio.”

    The System:
Several months ago Mike Levy, CEO of Alta Audio sent a pair of their new Rhea speakers to Harry Weisfeld of VPI, to “play with” at the famous VPI House. “I got them and tried them with various electronics I had in the house. They sure sounded terrific, but when I connected them to the Limited Production VPI 299D integrated tube amp, something happened!” According to Harry: “There was magic! There was amazing detail, speed, control and an overall level of musicality that just blew us away. It was one of those rare combinations of components that just worked so well together.”
After numerous demos of the system and universally positive comments, the VPI and Alta folks decided to demonstrate the system at CAF. Then someone suggested that they promote the brands with a giveaway of the system.
The system will be on demo in Room 210 and includes the following components:

VPI 299D Limited Edition Integrated Tube Amplifier – An homage to a classic design from the 60s, it’s a joint collaboration between Harry Weisfeld and long time friend Steve Leung of VAS audio. The unit includes a phono stage, amplifier, and headphone amp. In the Ultralinear mode using the standard EL34 output tubes, the power is rated at 38 WPC. MSRP: $4000

Alta Audio Rhea Speaker system with stands – Introduced to great acclaim at RMAF 2015. The Rhea uses the same XTL transmission line bass and DampHard cabinet construction on the faceplate as their highly reviewed Celesta FRM-2 speakers. It does so at a far more attainable price and is housed in a beautiful Rosewood standard cabinet. The seven inch midrange/woofer blends smoothly and seamlessly into the five inch pure ribbon tweeter. MSRP: $4750 per pair. highly reviewed Celesta FRM-2 speakers. It does so at a far more attainable price and is housed in a beautiful Rosewood standard cabinet. The seven inch midrange/woofer blends smoothly and seamlessly into the five inch pure ribbon tweeter. MSRP: $4750 per pair.

VPI Scout Jr with Ortofon 2M red - The VPI Scout Jr. is a ready to use out of the box. A high-end entry-level turntable, complete with a pre-mounted Ortofon 2M Red cartridge. The new tonearm is 9 inches long with a Yoke type vertical bearing and damped turntable-like horizontal bearing, it’s the perfect solution to enjoying your music! The arm is damped in the horizontal plane and free in the vertical plane. This combination breaks up resonances and adds to the enjoyment of the sound. MSRP: $1600.00

Luminous Audio Connection Package - Renaissance speaker cables, Monarch II interconnects and the Power Lynx Ultra power cords. MSRP: $1800.00

Attendees who want to participate can get an entry form at Show Registration, which they will complete and drop off in Room 210 when they stop in and hear the system. The drawing will be held Sunday afternoon at Show Close, in the Atrium.

      KEF SHOWCASES LUXURY MUON LOUDSPEAKERS
      AT CAPITAL AUDIOFEST 2016

Event Marks the First Time MUON will be Displayed at a U.S. Trade Show

KEF America, a high-end audio manufacturer, is proud to announce its participation in Capital Audiofest (CAF) 2016, the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area's only comprehensive audio event. CAF will mark the first time in KEF history that the renowned MUON loudspeakers, which were designed in collaboration with Ross Lovegrove, will be played at a trade show in the U.S. During the event, attendees will be able to see how MUON straddles the line between sculpture and sound. The MUON speakers, as well as KEF’s full portfolio of luxury audio products, will be on display in conjunction with VPI Industries in the Madison Room of the Hilton Hotel in Rockville, MD at the Twinbrook Metro from July 8-10.

“We are extremely excited to showcase MUON at CAF 2016 as it embodies KEF’s long-standing commitment to creating beautiful, luxurious, and innovative audio solutions,” said Alec Chanin, president of KEF America. “MUON combines KEF’s engineering prowess with world-class industrial design by Ross Lovegrove to deliver an extraordinary loudspeaker that is both powerful and stunning.”

KEF’s MUON loudspeaker, which retails for $225,000 a pair, is fabricated from super-formed aluminium, which uses a similar moulding process to vacuum forming. The concept uses malleable sheets of heated aluminium to achieve otherwise impossible

shapes. The eventual form of the loudspeaker was the result of a careful convergence between Mr. Lovegrove's design aesthetics and the physics of sound.

MUON's four-way speaker design delivers stunningly accurate sound with six 10 inch LF drivers, one 10 inch MF driver, and KEF’s Uni-Q driver array. The Uni-Q array positions the tweeter within the acoustic centre of the MF driver, resulting in a more precise image across the sound field. This proprietary technology, which is found across KEF’s portfolio of products, delivers lifelike performances while ensuring consistent voicing.

If interested in learning more about the MUON or a product demonstration while at the show, please contact [email protected]. For additional information about the MUON loudspeakers or KEF’s full product portfolio, please visit us.KEF.com.

      About KEF
The company was founded in 1961 by Raymond Cooke OBE (1925–1995) and was initially headquartered in a Nissen Hut on the premises of Kent Engineering & Foundry (from where the name KEF is derived) – a metal-working company on the banks of the River Medway, near Maidstone in Kent. KEF’s ethos has always been based on the continuing quest to find new and better ways of reproducing sound. Since the company’s establishment, KEF has maintained a flair for unusual and controversial speaker engineering, design and material use. KEF has always driven innovation in sound with examples including its iconic ‘egg’, Muon and Blade speakers. KEF is a member of Gold Peak Group and its products are available in more than 60 countries. In 2011, KEF celebrated its 50th anniversary and now the company continues its commitment to building on its strong heritage. Visit: us.KEF.com for more about KEF and its products.

Yes Greg will be showing in the Classic Audio horn speaker's room. Greg will also be doing his usual-and by now traditional- after hour tape listening sessions too. He'll have the new deck with the UHA Vari-Q (adjustable eq at 10k up) playing.

United Home Audio with Classic Audio Loudspeakers
United Home Audio will be in the The Roosevelt Room with Classic Audio Loudspeakers playing all types of analog tapes from various sources

The tape deck will be the UHA Phase12-OPS (Outboard Power Supply) deck.

There are two power transformers in the OPS units, one for the tape transport motors and one for the tape head amps, no transformers inside the tape deck itself to create magnetic fields.

A new feature to the UHA deck is there are no capacitors in the output of the Phase12 decks.

No need for coupling capacitors to smear or otherwise influence the output signal, all DC offset is handled by new “modules” on the Phase12 preamp boards, no DC is amplified from gain stage to gain stage resulting in the most quiet and transparent deck yet!

Don’t miss the UHA Legendary After Hours Analog Tape Events in the Roosevelt Room (only), Friday 9:30 - till and Saturday 8pm – till.

UHA has shown tape decks at every CAF since the first show in the Glenview Mansion in 2010.
