  • Kuzma Introduces New 9-inch Arm

The original Kuzma 4 Point tone arm had an effective 11" (280mm) length. More recently Kuzma introduced a 14" version designed to work with its large-plinthed Stabi M turntable.

finally improving the surface finish of their arms, the current ones look like they're painted with texture coat out of a rattle can.

Do you know if a surface coat can change resonance frequency?

No bait. :-) Just curious - I have no clue on an answer.

Is the Kuzma magnesium? if so I know it can't be anodized but painted. every SME V owner knows this first hand where the arm rest mars the finish. from what I know about the 'arms I've owned, they're all damped from the inside out.

Per Kuzma: "The main tube is accurately machined out of a solid rod of aluminium as in our Air Line parallel tracking tonearm."

I don't believe the (now old surface style) 4Point is anodized. I think it is painted. The surface is textured (out of a rattle can) which I don't associate with anodizing. It does seem rugged. FrancK makes good stuff.

Here is a pic of my own 11" 4Point that gives some sense of the surface. Below it is a (stock?) photo of the new 9" 4Point from Analog Planet.

You can see the smoother surface on the new 9" version, purportedly to be applied to the 11" and 14" versions down the road. As noted, the 9" version does not follow the Triplanar approach used on the longer 4Points of having an offset VTA tower, though we're told there is a "relatively easy way to adjust repeatable VTA/SRA."

For those who have read this far, here is your bonus link to a different snap of the affordable 9" 4Point with much more information about it, along with further Munich 2017 tonearm coverage courtesy The Audio Beat.

When I first saw 4Point 9, I was surprised how compact and beautiful it is. On Stabi Reference Mk2, it looks even better than the Triplanar. Owners of light turntables such as Linn... etc should be happy.

        The 4Point family.
