        NEWS RELEASE

Nola To Feature the World Premiere of Its Concert Grand Reference Gold 2 Loudspeaker at Rocky Mountain Audio Fest 2019

HOLBROOK, New York, August 18, 2019 — At Rocky Mountain Audio Fest (RMAF) 2019 Nola Speakers will be featuring the world premiere of its Concert Grand Reference Gold 2 loudspeaker system, an ultra-high-end $250,000 open baffle line source array design created to deliver remarkable musical realism.

The Nola Concert Grand Reference Gold 2 will be demonstrated at RMAF September 6 – 8, 2019 at the Gaylord Rockies Resort and Convention Center, Aurora, CO, Room 4125. It will be complemented by other world-class components including a Valve Amplification Company (VAC) preamplifier, power amp and D/A converter, Audio Research CD transport and Nordost Odin 2 cables.

The Concert Grand Reference Gold 2 is part of Nola’s Gold Collection series of ultimate- performance floorstanding loudspeakers. It is designed to deliver extraordinary musical accuracy in every sonic respect, with a natural tonal balance for voices and instruments, exceptional resolution, wide dynamic range and precise imaging on an expansive soundstage.

The loudspeaker employs a unique 12-inch-long true ribbon tweeter, which has been upgraded to deliver even lower distortion and greater clarity. High-frequency dispersion above 10 kHz is provided by the addition of a 2-inch true ribbon tweeter that extends the response of the speaker to 100 kHz.

The newly-designed 4-1/2-inch midrange drivers are housed in a line source open dipole array, a classic Nola configuration that eliminates “box” enclosure colorations and contributes to the speaker’s open, spacious soundstage. The four midrange drivers utilize large Alnico ring magnets and solid copper, gold-plated phase plugs for superior resolution, dynamics and clarity.

The speaker’s four 4-1/2-inch magnesium-cone bass drivers have an ultralight 7 grams of moving mass each – only one quarter of the mass of typical woofers – to deliver exceptional articulation and transient response in the 40 Hz to 400 Hz range. These exotic woofers also feature large Alnico ring magnets and solid copper, gold-plated phase plugs.

The loudspeakers’ 12-inch subwoofers are each housed in a separate chamber and deliver deep, authoritative bass down to 18 Hz. They combine powerful low-frequency performance with speed and definition far surpassing that of typical subwoofers.

The Nola Concert Grand Reference Gold 2 loudspeakers are available in mirror-imaged pairs, a configuration that conveys the spaciousness, depth and imaging of the original performance with extraordinary accuracy, presence and scale. Even the crossover network is refined to the ultimate degree. It employs Nola’s exclusive UnisonTM crossover technology that mounts the components on separate, isolated boards to ensure maximum sonic clarity, and also eliminates the need for bi-wiring or bi-amping. Premium wiring and components are used throughout. Each loudspeaker is mounted on a ball-bearing double isolation base to eliminate unwanted floor-borne resonances.

The Nola Concert Grand Reference Gold 2 loudspeaker is currently available in a True Piano Rosewood finish with a True Piano Black base. True Piano Black and other finishes are available on special order.

👀 ❤️ those 🔊s by Nola!! Those are definite things of beauty, and I’m sure they sound amazing. 18Hz - 100kHz with the addition of those ribbon tweeters. Top Notch, Top Notch...

          #RMAF2019 USA PREMIER!! AudioSolutions PRESENTS

#VirtuosoM #Speakers! Distributed by High End By Oz!

A significant highlight of the Virtuoso loudspeaker series is its advanced “box in a box” cabinet design, which consists of two boxes glued together. Originally developed for the #Figaro series, the structure of this cabinet has been further improved to enhance the sonic performance of the Virtuoso series. The weakest points of a traditional speaker cabinet are the corner joints since they behave more like hinges, rather than tight joints in a natural vibrating environment. The “box in a box” approach resolves this issue by combining two cabinets, arranged in an offset pattern. The internal cabinet is fully sealed and outfitted with heavy internal bracing and dampening. It is then covered with an outer box, which is glued tightly to the internal cabinet. This technique allows the cabinet to achieve 10 times the stiffness of a single layer enclosure. The sonic gains from the stiffer cabinet are enormous - the sound is neutral and more authentic.

AudioSolutions first introduced an adjustable crossover in the Vantage Classic loudspeaker series. This allowed the user to fine-tune the speakers to their room and associated audio components. Now with the Virtuoso series, the concept is raised to another level, allowing the listener to choose one of three different crossover profiles.

          1. Balanced – this mode is a sweet spot with great musical clarity and an immersive soundstage.

          2. Moderate – this mode is ideal for prolonged listening sessions and times when the speakers are driven near their limits, especially when listening to rock or metal. The continued evolution of high-end audio components and loudspeakers means that today’s gear reveals many imperfections in the recordings, which can make them sound distorted, noisy and tiring to your ears. This is particularly true with classic rock albums. The Soft mode applies a technique similar to recording studios, manipulating distortions and very sharp nulls in the frequency range.

          3. Enhanced – engaging this mode will allow the listener to experience the finest level of musical details from their recordings. This mode is especially well suited for quiet evening listening sessions when ambient urban noise is reduced, and micro details in the music come alive. This mode can mean the difference between simply listening to music and establishing an emotional connection with your music, prompting you to get up and dance or shed a tear, when listening to your favourite tunes.

Virtuoso is equipped with a new type of speaker tuning device which encloses three different crossovers in one speaker to choose from. This system does not change SPL of speaker response and should not be mistaken with room/system tuning devices where levels of individual drivers are being changed. In Virtuoso we decided to take a step further and use natural drivers' distortion pattern to manipulate listening experience.

As it is known all speaker drivers have more or fewer distortions present across the spectrum which is the natural behaviour of the driver. However, each driver's distortion pattern is different creating unique sounding units. This is why aluminum cone drivers have a metallic/harsh sound or ceramic cone drivers have analytic sound, or better yet this is what makes two different violins sound different, just in music it is called overtones rather than distortions. Different overtones create a unique sound character. By adding more drivers to the speaker we create a speaker system with its crossover points in each driver and at the same time in each driver's distortion pattern. By manipulating with crossover frequency and steepness of slopes we can create different distortion patterns which will give to sound different character. It is a unique feature which allows us to have three different listening experiences without actually changing speaker characteristics.

          Dimensions (HxWxD) : 1240mm x 444mm x 621mm; 48.8 x 17.5 x 24.5in

          Weight : 75 kg/165 lbs each

Shipping weight: 110 kg/220 lbs each

          Sensitivity : 92 dB @ 2.83V 1m

Nominal power handling: 170 W rms

          Maximum unclipped power handling: 340 W;

          Impedance: Nominal 4,0 ohms

Crossover frequency: 500 Hz; 7000 Hz

          Frequency response (in-room environment) : 25-30000 Hz

I had the pleasure of hearing an AT-ART1000 when they had first come out at my local HiFi store, and it is is truly something very special. It was one of the most “perfect” sounding carts I’d ever heard. AT absolutely nailed it with that on, but at around $5K, I’d hope so! lol 🎶🔊🙂

Motion Series at Rocky Mountain Audio Fest (Room 8128)

MartinLogan is debuting the new Motion 60XTi floorstanding and Motion 35XTi bookshelf speakers during the 2019 Rocky Mountain Audio Fest (RMAF). MartinLogan will be partnering with Benchmark Media Systems in room 8128 from September 6-8. MartinLogan will demonstrate the new speakers with dual Dynamo 800X subwoofers.

MartinLogan Announces the New Look of Proven Performance

Available October 2019, the Motion Series features seven new models, including two floorstanding, two bookshelf, and two center channel speakers.

Lawrence, Kansas, United States – August 20, 2019 – MartinLogan is pleased to announce seven new Motion® Series loudspeakers for music or home cinemas. Since its introduction, the Motion Series has garnered acclaim for its performance and value. When it came time to introduce a new generation of the Motion Series, MartinLogan decided not to mess with a good thing. The new line of modern, multi-application speakers utilizes the same benchmark-performance technology as previous generations of the Motion Series, updated with a modern and stylish new design. The result is the same, but different; familiar, but unexpected.

            Key Features:

            • Folded Motion® and Folded Motion® XT tweeters
            • Aluminum cone midrange drivers and woofers with concave dust caps that reinforce the strength and rigidity of the cone
            • Proprietary Vojtko™ crossover networks featuring custom air core coil and low DCR steel laminate inductors. Polypropylene film capacitors in series and low DF electrolytic capacitors in parallel.
            • Custom 5-way tool-less binding posts
            • Three luxurious finishes and matching metallic trim, including gloss black with black grilles and gunmetal grey trim, matte white with silver grilles and silver trim, and red walnut with black grilles and champagne-colored trim

            The Motion Legacy

The Motion Series is inspired by the performance of MartinLogan’s ultra-high-end electrostatic loudspeakers, and features cutting edge Folded Motion tweeter, exceptional components, and hand-built crossovers. They deliver a richly detailed audio experience at an unrivaled price.

            Engineering, Without Compromises

What makes the Motion Series sound so amazing? MartinLogan's dedicated in-house engineering and design team started by utilizing and refining the most advanced, compact technologies and combining them with innovative engineering and time-honored cabinet construction techniques. The result is an emotionally engaging sound that rivals (and most times trounces) traditional loudspeakers of similar size and price. Our ‘no compromise’ philosophy gives Motion Series a unique sound you won’t find anywhere else.

            Sound Inspired by Electrostatic Speakers

The success of the Motion Series is directly attributed to its close relation to MartinLogan’s legendary ultra-high-end electrostatic loudspeakers. The desire to transmute that level of performance into a more traditional speaker at a more affordable price drove the initial design imperatives that created the Motion Series.

            Folded Motion® Tweeters

MartinLogan’s signature Folded Motion tweeter utilizes an extremely low mass diaphragm that “squeezes” air, thus demanding significantly less excursion than the typical 1-inch dome tweeter. Its folded design allows for a much larger surface area (compared to that of a regular 1-inch dome tweeter), controlled dispersion characteristics, and vanishingly low distortion. It’s a miracle of audio engineering that’s able to deliver much of the high-frequency detail and speed of a large, dynamic electrostatic panel in a small space.

Motion 60XTi, 50XTi, and 35XTi feature Folded Motion XT tweeters, with a 40% larger radiating surface and 80x30-degree controlled dispersion. This tweak increases audible bandwidth without sacrificing details and minimizes distortion to an unprecedented level while increasing efficiency and the tweeter’s already lightning-fast response time. The result—superior realism and alarming specificity is aurally astounding, and only by MartinLogan.

Powerful Aluminum Cone Mid-Frequency and Bass Drivers

Custom built, low-distortion drivers pair high-power magnet structures with aluminum cone diaphragms to deliver massive excursion and sound output, preserve minute bass details, and maximize power handling capability, all without a hint of distortion. A unique concave dust cap design reinforces the strength and rigidity of the cone while reducing break up modes.

The use of aluminum for cones maximizes rigidity and strength of the drivers without adding excessive weight. This, along with the exceptional damping properties of aluminum, ensures the smooth, non-resonant response necessary for seamless blending with high-resolution Folded Motion tweeters. An added benefit of aluminum is its outstanding thermal conduction capability which allows cones to serve as efficient heat sinks for voice coils.

To deliver accuracy in the critical midrange, mid-frequency drivers feature a specially engineered "stiff" suspension. Stiffening the suspension (the spider and surround) raises the driver's resonant frequency and optimizes its performance to achieve a natural roll-off and inherently operate within an ideal range for a mid-frequency reproduction (as opposed to a comparably sized woofer).

            Low-Mounted Woofers Minimize Floor Bounce

Floorstanding Motion models utilize 2.5-way designs that feature woofers positioned low in the cabinet and close to the floor. This deliberate design addresses a phenomenon known as floor bounce where sound reflected off the floor (from drivers positioned high on a cabinet), and those aimed directly at the listener interfere with each other. Without addressing these issues, listeners would experience bloated bass and massive increases and decreases in sound levels throughout critical midrange frequencies. Through careful crossover design and driver positioning, floorstanding Motion speakers deliver a flat, balanced response through the bass and midrange regions. Such considerations are crucial when seeking to achieve accurate reproduction of vocals and instruments such as kick drums.

            Proprietary Vojtko™ Crossover Networks

Premium Motion Series speakers feature proprietary Vojtko crossover networks using polypropylene and low-DF electrolytic capacitors, custom-wound inductors, and thermal and current protection. Vojtko crossovers are named after MartinLogan's chief audio technologist, Joe Vojtko. His unique approach to crossover design is as big of a part of the “MartinLogan Sound” as are electrostatic and Folded Motion thin-film driver technologies. A Vojtko crossover isn't so much a set of design requirements as it is a philosophy. Vojtko crossovers are designed in such a way that all drivers are kept within their optimal frequency range and balanced with one another. The drivers themselves are as much a part of a Vojtko crossover as are capacitors and resistors. Before the design of any crossover begins, drivers are carefully selected or designed to operate within a very intentional frequency range and with precise and predictable performance parameters. Vojtko crossovers are always built from high-quality parts, and care is taken to avoid overly complex topologies—a straightforward objective due to the careful selection of woofers and tweeters. The final (and most critical) aspect of a Vojtko Crossover is that final voicing is conducted in a space that is indicative of a real-world environment. This pragmatic approach allows MartinLogan speakers to sound their best in real-world rooms.

            Modern Design Featuring Luxurious Finishes

Discreetly hidden behind fabric wrapped magnetic grilles, Folded Motion and aluminum cone drivers are held securely in place beneath matte black trim that masks tweeter and woofer mounting hardware for a clean, modern aesthetic. Solid cabinets, designed to eliminate fidelity robbing vibrations, are constructed from 18mm (0.7-inch) MDF with 31mm (1.2-inch) thick front baffles. Motion 60XTi and 50XTi feature additional internal bracing to further reduce cabinet resonance.

These new Motion Series speakers are available in three luxurious finishes and matching metallic trim—gloss black with black grilles and gunmetal grey trim, matte white with silver grilles and silver trim, and red walnut with black grilles and champagne-colored trim.

            Custom 5-Way Tool-less Binding Posts

Premium gold-plated 5-way tool-less binding posts assure a stable connection while accommodating a wide range of connections. Select models feature two sets of binding posts accommodate bi-wire connections to increase signal carrying conductors and allow each portion of the crossover to be directly coupled to the amplifier.

These are the seven new models in MartinLogan’s Motion Series:

J.SIKORA TURNTABLES LAND IN THE UNITED STATES
-- Notable Audio Products Distributes Superior European ‘Tables --

Falls Church, VA – August 7th, 2019: Notable Audio Products, importers and distributors of exceptional European audio products, is pleased to announce that it has been appointed the exclusive North American Distributor by J.Sikora Turntables (www.jsikora.pl).
J.Sikora ‘tables already have a strong and loyal following throughout Europe and have received outstanding reviews and product awards.
Janusz Sikora, renowned Polish industrialist and founder of J.Sikora, has applied his extensive knowledge of metallurgy and materials research to the construction of premium turntables. Janusz and his son Robert experimented with hundreds of combinations of different metals in the processes of optimizing their ‘tables. By leveraging their experience in the production of metal-intensive luxury goods for other markets, the father and son team have been able to produce extremely high-quality products with exacting tolerances at prices that substantially undercut the competition.

J.Sikora currently produces three turntable ranges. The “entry-level” Initial turntable (MSRP $7,995) weighs an impressive 62 lbs. The Initial is built using aluminum, cast iron, and stainless steel and features a 9-pound Delrin® platter, an advanced digital speed controller, an outboard analog power supply, and an internally damped high-torque motor.

The middle of the J.Sikora line—Standard—weighs 176 lbs. Though massive, its sleek industrial design makes it look at-home in any audiophile system. An industry first, Standard’s unique 40-pound platter utilizes layers of Delrin® sandwiched between copper spacers to dissipate and distribute vibration. Beyond the features of the Initial, the Standard adds: significantly increased mass; the strategic application of brass; a second motor, a high-mass secondary plinth, a crystal glass and aluminum record mat and a custom 4.5-pound record weight comprised of aluminum, brass and nickel. MSRP $15,495.

J.Sikora also offers upgraded “MAX” versions of their Initial and Standard tables. The Initial MAX ($10,995) includes a second armboard, a second motor, a second, high-mass plinth, a glass mat and a record weight. The Standard MAX ($18,195) adds a second armboard and the advanced plinth from their statement Reference table, described below.

J.Sikora’s flagship, 238-pound Reference turntable artfully combines a precise ratio of 6 different metals. The platter is both dynamically and statically balanced and is constructed from three separate materials. The main bearing is constructed from steel, cemented carbon, and zirconium. The Reference supports up to 3 tonearms and includes a unique plinth with an integral precision speed controller.
New for 2019, J.Sikora’s KV12 is the world’s first production Kevlar®-armtube tonearm. After years of experimentation, Sikora developed a proprietary method for the precise forming of a Kevlar® arm tube. The KV12 employs a 12’’ oil-dampened unipivot that marries the KevlarT© with aluminum, cast iron, bronze, and stainless steel, and uses mono-crystal silver wiring, resulting in detailed reproduction and an astonishingly low noise floor.

J.Sikora will be demonstrating their tables at Rocky Mountain Audio Fest, September 6 - 8, 2019. For more information on J.Sikora products, please visit https://notableaudio.com/j-sikora-usa/.

J.Sikora products are available in the United States through a select group of retailers. One of my all time favorite rock-n-roll speakers. I'd love to hear these. What would they be like with a more refined sound? Not a good in-your-face speaker anymore?
