After a long absence from the USA High End Audio Exhibition circuit, Wilson Benesch are thrilled to post Round 7 of the P1 Collection Tour, which sees the A.C.T. One Evolution P1 loudspeaker roar into the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest courtesy of new importer Aaudio Imports.

In celebration of this dazzling return to US shores and drawing a direct line to Aaudio Imports branding, Wilson Benesch collaborated with our new import partner and Hypetex to create a new 'Ettore' Blue finish for the A.C.T. One Evolution P1. The 'Ettore' name given to the stunning new finish is a historical reference to Ettore Bugatti, the Italian-born French automobile designer and manufacturer, who founded Bugatti.

The French automotive company takes its blue branding from the national motor racing colors of France. The blue color was selected by the French motorsport team in 1904, after the British GP was moved to Ireland. At the 1903 British GP, the British chose to change the color of the standard black racing car that lined up in the field, to Green, in honor of their Irish hosts. Soon after the French team chose Blue, German's White, Belgians Yellow and the Italians Red.

First held in 2004, this year will be the 12th Edition of the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest. RMAF is considered the largest consumer high end audio show in North America.

Aaudio Imports are recognized and widely respected in the US audio hierarchy for importing some of the finest audio products available. Only a cursory glance at the house brands will confirm this. Aaudio Imports will be demonstrating in room 4024, in a breath taking high end system built around the A.C.T. One Evolution P1 Ettore, partnered with Greek high end electronics from Ypsilon.

      NORDOST AT
      ROCKY MOUNTAIN AUDIO FEST 2016

      Denver, CO October 7, 2016:
Rocky Mountain Audio Fest is the perfect venue for Nordost to feature two of their latest products. RMAF attendees visiting Nordost in the Humboldt Peak exhibit room will benefit from the demonstrations and live cable comparisons that Nordost has become known for. They will also be some of the first consumers to experience what both the Sort Lift®, and Nordost’s brand new Tyr 2 USB 2.0 Cable, can bring to an already stellar sound system.

The Tyr 2 USB 2.0 Cable, released just last month to authorized Nordost dealers, is constructed using 4x20 AWG solid core, silver-plated, oxygen free copper conductors. Implementing a solid core design is essential when working with a cable of this caliber, completely eliminating the negative effects of strand interaction and skin effect. Each solid core conductor is then wrapped in Nordost’s proprietary Dual Mono-Filament technology before being enclosed in extruded FEP, which lowers the capacitance of the cable, both increasing signal speed and bandwidth.

The Tyr 2 USB 2.0 Cable arranges its conductors in a precise, twisted, double helix geometry in order to ensure characteristic impedance, minimize cross-talk, and reduce noise. To even further reduce noise, and protect the USB signal path from any external interference, Nordost employs a dual-layer, silver foil jacket and silver braided shield. Finally, before being terminated with gold-plated, fully shielded connectors, the Tyr 2 USB is cut to mechanically tuned lengths, which reduce internal microphonics and high-frequency impedance resonance.

The Sort Lift® is the preeminent cable support in the consumer electronics industry, and is the perfect addition to Nordost’s line of Resonance Control Devices: the Sort System. The Sort Lift® is designed to enhance the sonic performance of loudspeaker cables, power cords, and interconnects. While other cable lifters in the industry are only concerned with doing just that—lifting the cable, the Sort Lift® not only elevates audio cables from the ground, but it employs a patent pending, Floating Spring Design. This design minimizes the contact that cables have with the apparatus, while reducing boundary effects without negatively affecting the resonant properties of the cables themselves.

The Sort Lift® is composed of two integral components: the base and the springs. The base is a stable, anodized aluminum disk, designed to inhibit

any transference of electrical charge from the floor to the cable and eliminate static build-up on the dielectric itself. This base supports the proprietary Floating Spring System. The Floating Spring System uses a flexible, titanium alloy spring-wire, which makes up both the support wings and tension wire supports. In both elements, the alloy wire is coated in FEP, mirroring the design of Nordost cables, and making the supports an extension of the cable jacket. These specially treated wires eliminate any electrical interference, while allowing the cables to maintain their natural resonance properties. This revolutionary design elicits several improvements to the sound quality, including an elevated sound stage, improved dynamic range, increased detail in low frequency reproductions, and more natural timbre to the music.

Nordost is excited to share these new innovations with RMAF guests. All are invited to stop by The Humboldt Peak room to experience the musical color, focus and dynamic range any system could be capable of. Nordost representatives and product specialists, Michael Marko and Jon Baker will be performing demonstrations and are available throughout the entirety of the show.

News from the Super Audio Center and Sonoma Acoustics on their CanJam exhibit and suite at RMAF 2016:

Following on the heels of CanJam London where Sonoma Acoustics LLC showed a prototype of their revolutionary Model One (M1) Headphone System—the first high-end headphones to utilize the High-Precision Electrostatic Laminate (HPEL) transducer developed by Warwick Audio Technologies Ltd.—the company is headed to CanJam at the Rocky Mountain Audio Festival (RMAF) scheduled for Oct. 7-9 at the Denver Marriott Tech Center.

“The reaction we got to the M1 prototypes in London was very encouraging,” commented David Kawakami, GM, Sonoma Acoustics. “In Denver, we will have samples that are much closer to final production so the performance and build quality will be even better.”

At [email protected], Sonoma Acoustics will be demonstrating the M1 System at two locations—the Al Stiefel Legacy Suite 9030 on the 9th floor of the Summit Tower and in the CanJam tent.

“In our suite, we will have a Sonoma DSD Workstation and a ½-inch, two-track Ampex ATR-100 mastering recorder so visitors will be able to listen to some fantastic hi-res source material,” said David Kawakami.

Sonoma Acoustics is expected to announce preliminary pricing and availability for the Model One at the show. “Audiophiles don’t usually have a chance to listen to an actual Sonoma Workstation but we want people to know that the M1 comes from very good stock,“ commented David Kawakami. “It’s going to be hi-res heaven.”

          THE LATEST UHA NEWS!
          UHA WILL DEBUT THE NEW
          "OPS-DC"
          TAPE DECK AT RMAF 2016!
The Phase12-OPS-DC tape deck is an all new version of the award winning Phase12 tape deck. However with a huge difference, this new deck operates 100% on DC current!
The outboard power supply (OPS) converts AC from the wall via two huge toroidal power transformers one for the tape transport, lights, VU meters, ect, and one solely for the UHA head amps. This separates the power supplies and most importantly it allows one huge overbuilt power transformer and bank of DC conversion devices to feed only the UHA tape head amps. This offers the purest power delivery possible to the UHA head amps. Special banks of overbuilt AC to DC conversion devices were installed in the OPS to power every part of the deck.
The result was that everything in the tape deck runs on DC power, the tape transport, lights, VU meters, even the Phase12 head amps all run on DC power! There is no AC (or any power transformer) inside the tape deck at all!
UHA will have a production version of the new Phase12-OPS-DC deck in room 9022 at RMAF!
          People have asked...
Why do you use this particular Tascam deck? Certainly a factor was that parts can still be bought from Tascam, the transport is reliable and speed stable, but always in mind was the fact that the deck has all DC motors. The goal and subsequent planning was to run the deck 100% on DC power, this project spanned years of development. All this finally led to the conversion and extensive rewiring of all internal electronics and mechanical transport mechanisms to operate solely on DC power! The use of DC power in R2R playback (and also recording) is quite audible and removes issues with EMI and other AC power related distortions from the equation.
This new DC deck takes the award winning UHA R2R tape playback (and recording) to another level, you won't want to miss it!

Brinkmann’s “MQA-ready” DAC Makes US Debut At RMAF
--Nyquist: The Digital Source So Good, Only An Analog Expert Could Have Built It!—

Denver, CO, 7 October, 2016: Thirty years after the introduction of their first Digital-to-Analog Converter, Brinkmann Audio is proud to introduce “Nyquist,” the world’s most advanced DAC, which makes its US debut this week in MQA Room 8015, Rocky Mountain Audio Fest, 7-9 October, 2016. Authored by the newly expanded Brinkmann design team, Nyquist sets new standards in versatility, user-friendliness, performance and long-term value.
Although Brinkmann is often “Typecast” as a designer and manufacturer of State-of-the-Art analog components, the company’s first DAC, “Zenith,” debuted in 1986 and still maintains a devoted cult following. It was during the development of Zenith that Brinkmann first recognized the importance of analog circuitry and passive filter implementation in the design of high end digital components. Everything Brinkmann learned with Zenith—combined with three decades of subsequent engineering experience—has resulted in Nyquist: the culmination of Brinkmann’s vast audio design knowledge.
An entirely new design, Nyquist’s hardware has been optimized to accommodate the latest digital formats. Most importantly, it supports MQA™ (Master Quality Authenticated) streaming and playback. MQA delivers master quality audio in a file that’s small enough to stream or download, making “Hi-Res” audio available to a vastly expanded universe of users and devices. When MQA is not available, the Nyquist also supports current digital standards including PCM up to 384 kHz as well as DSD 64 and 128. Given that future formats will inevitably appear, both the Hardware and Software of Nyquist’s Digital Module are easily user-replaceable. This field-upgradable architecture assures unprecedented longevity and enables Nyquist to remain on the cutting edge of digital technology. Nyquist virtually eliminates obsolescence, making it audio’s first-and-only “Investment Quality” digital component.
Proprietary high voltage power supply technology—unique among digital source components—delivers marked improvements in digital circuit performance as do custom filters in the digital domain. In a nod to Brinkmann’s renowned “Marconi” Preamplifier and “Edison” Phono Stage, the Nyquist employs hybrid circuit topology, with tubes used in the output stage due to their instantaneous response to voltage changes.

Nyquist is no less impressive in terms of its connectivity, featuring USB, AES/EBU, SPDIF via rca and optical connectors, and Ethernet inputs. Balanced, single-ended and Headphone outputs are also included. Designed for unprecedented ease of use, Nyquist supports both Roon™ music management and Tidal™ streaming service. Optimized, pre-selected filters have been carefully tailored for every digital format. A comprehensive remote handset offers control of gain and headphone volume, input selection, mute and phase.

Although Brinkmann demonstrated a prototype of the Nyquist at the Munich HiFi Show, the final production version will make its US debut in MQA Room 8015 at the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest. The system will also feature Brinkmann‘s Marconi preamp and MONO power amplifiers.
Nyquist will ship in November, 2016, at an MSRP of $18,000

            ABOUT MQA
Using pioneering scientific research into how people hear, the MQA team has created a technology that captures the full magic of an original studio performance. MQA is a revolutionary end-to-end technology that delivers master quality audio in a file that’s small enough to stream or download. It is backwards compatible, so will play on any device and because it’s fully authenticated, the listener can be sure they are hearing exactly what the artist recorded in the studio. MQA is the first technology to capture this crucial timing information – to transport the listener to the original performance.

                  To Acoustic Sounds series subscribers,

Ready your ears for something special! From Acoustic Sounds, Inc., the world leader in audiophile music sales, comes the highest quality analog reel-to-reel tape album reissues — Analogue Productions Ultra Tape! Twelve masterpiece titles are featured in this new reissue series, each a 15 ips, ¼-inch analog tape copy sourced from a copy of the original analog master tape. Transferred real-time, using an ATR-modified Ampex Tape Machine with flux magnetic heads. Each copy is housed in a custom slipcase cover.

The first two titles — Janis Ian's Breaking Silence and Ben Webster's Gentle Benare slated to be released before 2016 ends. Analogue Productions is the vinyl, SACD and now audio tape reissue label owned by Acoustic Sounds.

The remaining titles include: Rickie Lee Jones' It's like This / Hugh Masakela's Hope /Rachmaninoff's Symphonic Dances (the famous Turnabout recording) / Fritz Reiner and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra's Scheherazade (RCA Living Stereo) / Fritz Reiner and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra's Pines of Rome and Fountains of Rome (RCA Living Stereo) / Leopold Stokowski's Rhapsodies (RCA Living Stereo) / René Leibowitz and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra The Power of The Orchestra (RCA Living Stereo) / Fritz Reiner and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra's Lieutenant Kije and Stravinksy's Song of the Nightingale (RCA Living Stereo) / Abel /Steinberg - Beethoven Violin Sonata (Wilson Audio) / and Lowell Graham's Winds of War & Peace (Wilson Audio).

Each reissue copy is priced at $450. The entire series is available by subscription and subscribers will pay for 11 titles and receive the 12th one free!

Acoustic Sounds has enlisted Gus Skinas, of the Super Audio Center in Boulder, Colo., to handle the tape transfers, which are made using the Ampex Tape Machines in the control room at Blue Heaven Studios, here in Salina.

For more than a year, at every trade show and on more and more phone calls and emails, our customers have hammered away with the same request: “When are you going to start selling tape?!”

You spoke, we listened. We know tape's advantages: greater dynamic range, especially at frequency extremes; minimal signal processing; and unsurpassed richness and realism — it's the closest to hearing the master tape. You're going to be blown away when you experience playback of our Ultra Tape reissues from Analogue Productions! Order your subscription today!

Chad will talk more about this project at the RMAF seminar. It will be interesting to see if he will be releasing one title a quarter. Or feels he can handle more.

                  RMAF New Products/Press Release
NEW Musical Surroundings SuperNova III phono stage - MAP $3,500
The Mike Yee designed battery-powered SuperNova III is a fully discrete dual-mono circuit inside a full-size chassis with a stand-alone Linear Charging power supply. Made in California, the SuperNova III furthers the hallmarks of Yee’s highly regarded phono stage design elements; individually biased discrete transistors and Phase Compensated Feedback RIAA Equalization, incorporating carefully selected audiophile-grade capacitors and Cardas board-mounted RCA connectors. To eliminate any “battery sonic signature,” the SuperNova III utilizes a bank of power supply capacitors in conjunction with the custom dual-mono rechargeable NiMH battery packs. With the standalone Linear Charging power supply, noise is reduced in both the SuperNova III and the entire audio system. The SuperNova III offers the standard RIAA as well as Columbia and Decca equalization curves, mono switch, mute switch, and a unique subsonic filter design. The SuperNova III’s full-size audio chassis incorporates constrained-mode layer damping, decoupled Printed Circuit Board, and custom footers by HRS.
NEW DS Audio DS Master1 Optical Cartridge/Phono Equalizer – MAP $22,500
The DS Master1 cartridge uses a newly developed generator with a more direct signal path, placing the shutter and micro-optical sensor closer to the Micro-ridge stylus. A sapphire cantilever utilizes a wire-suspension to accurately position the generator, further improving channel separation. The DS Master1 Phono Equalizer is comprised of dual-mono analog circuits with 3 sets of RCA and XLR outputs, featuring different low frequency cut-off points. Each channel has a dedicated power supply with a third supply powering the DS Master1 cartridge optical circuit. Weighing 52.8 lbs, the DS Master1 Phono Equalizer is housed in a large chassis and uses a pure copper buss bar to connect the capacitor bank of the DS Master1 power supply
                  to achieve high conductivity.
NEW AMG 12JT Turbo tonearm – MAP $8,500
The 12JT Turbo expands upon AMG’s patented tonearm design with improved sound and functionality. The new larger bearing assembly houses both the unique vertical bearing and a larger horizontal axle, featuring dual micro-ball bearing assemblies for enhanced stability and reduced friction. All critical parameters of the 12JT Turbo are accomplished with calibrated locking thumbscrews for added rigidity and precise adjustment. The 12JT Turbo is available with the Viella V12 turntable as the AMG V12 Turbo package, and can be fitted to other turntables with our CIRCLE Linn-style or OVAL SME-style adaptors.
NEW Clearaudio Performance DC Wood turntable/Satisfy Carbon Fiber tonearm – MAP $4,600
Clearaudio’s newest turntable is the next model up from their popular Performance DC turntable with technology from their Clearaudio Ovation and Innovation series turntables. The Performance DC Wood’s attractive Baltic birch plinth is mass-loaded like the Ovation, providing improved resonance control. This increased mass plinth incorporates a 40mm-thick POM platter, Ceramic Magnetic Bearing (CMB), decoupled DC motor with electronic speed selection, and three Innovation-class leveling/locking aluminum cone feet. The Performance DC Wood is shown at RMAF with the classic Clearaudio Satisfy Carbon Fiber pivoted tonearm and is also available as a package with either the Magnify pivoted tonearm or the new TT5 linear tracking tonearm (MAP $6,500)
                  Hana E Series and S Series Moving Coil Cartridges – MAP $475 (E Series), $750 (S Series)
Developed by Tokyo’s Excel Sound Corporation, Hana moving coil cartridges epitomize exceptional performance and value. Hana means “brilliant and gorgeous.” Their cartridges use Excel’s best materials including alnico magnets, cross-shaped armatures, and proprietary manufacturing processes. Hana cartridges are available in two series, with the choice of low or high output. The E Series features a distinctive moss green body and elliptical stylus, representing the best way to upgrade from a “starter” cartridge. The S Series delivers authentic high-end performance with its nude Shibata stylus, reproducing more musical information from your vinyl.
RMAF Press Conference - ADVANCED ANALOG: Optical Phono Cartridges, Phono Equalization Curves, Stereo & Mono Recordings
