  • FS: SP2, the 3D printed, lead shot loaded record weight

SP2, the 3D printed, lead shot loaded record weight. Also known as ShotPuck Two. 'Cause it has lots and lots of lead shot in it....and it is a record puck. ShotPuck.
This record weight weighs .84 lbs total. 85% of its total mass is the lead shot. The puck material is ABS. Btw, ABS has an acoustic impedance that is slighter lesser than that of the vinyl record itself.
Here's a CAD view of the finished SP2:

But that is the virtual shotPuck. Here's a photo of the reality:

This one is painted texture black enamel.
Here's one in natural ABS finish:

Above: exploded assembly view in CAD.
I make these with a 3D printer. The spindle bushing is lathe-turned Delrin. Hence they are sold as new. Printed to order. I will maintain a small inventory.

Price: $250 plus shipping. will ship conus and to Canada.
Paypal, Money order or cash when it is a local pickup.
Link to info site for lots more details about the puck and an 'Add To Cart' button.

    thanks for looking

Couldn't tell from your notes if the record weight comes painted or if one needs to do that oneself. Could you clarify?
        Thanks,

It comes painted, any color you like so long as it is matte textured black...
Optionally I can produce these in whatever color the ABS filament is. The grey one on my info page serves as an example of what they might look like without paint.
Currently grass green. The next reel I use will likely be another color because basic black is sometimes hard to get.

Matte black is fine. In fact that's what I was hoping. The plain ABS doesn't appeal to me.

For those interested, I did post a short article with numerous photos of my early design and prints for these shot loaded 3d printed pucks. It describes Shotpuck development so far. See link included in this post to read that page.

I have been implementing a new process that results in the appearance of a pollished surface. Although the word 'pollish' isn't quite correct. The process makes use of controlled exposure to acetone vapor for a measured period. The result can be seen above: and below:

The process adds another 10 hours to the total process of manufacture. Note that the above two images have not been painted. The ABS filament is black. The vapor process significantly improves the overall visual impression, I think. In any case I will be using this process on all future shotpucks. Finish options now include this "vapor black" finish as well as textured matte black enamel.

                      thanks,
                      -Steve
