  • Don' Vintage System

My Vintage System for strictly analog playback

It is configured for direct two channel stereo, one channel mono or 7.1 stereo by way of two active cross overs and six amplifiers.
I have rebuilt all equipment to original factory specs and built all the pre amps except for the Revox ( 31 years old and hasn't skipped a beat ). The Otari is still under the knife but coming along nicely. I am making Mahogany side panels for it and bringing the mechanical up to specs. I have already dealt with the electrical and it sounds great

The room is built to be as acoustically perfect as possible, the roof structure is the same as Halls, and Cathedrals. All the reflection and damping is accomplished by the shear massiveness of the wood and concrete. I posted on my profile the details of how it is put together, however I seem to have posted it to myself and I do not know how to move it and I do not want to rewrite it. If anyone wants more info on the construction information you will find it as a post to myself.

Looks like you have no shortage of tone arms. What's the story with what look like speakers hanging in the peak of the ceiling? And why did you decide to confine your listening area to a portion of the room? What is the distance between your seat and the horn speakers?
Looks like you've also got a nice view of the water--that's always a peaceful thing.

The mahogany center piece with the light was going to be a bass horn, however I ran into a problem ( wife ) so I changed it to that decorative piece but I can still make it into a bass horn by changing the panels back to the original design but it will cost me, as my wife is a High Heel-ophile, and she is big on equal rights for women. Have you seen the cost of some of those heels? The reason I set the listening section to the side is because that is also our sleeping Quarters and the bed overlooks the water, guess who refused to have the bed where the system is. The side actually works real well as each quadrant has great acoustics it is larger than it looks in the pics it is 310 sq ft I would still rather have it in the center overlooking the water but I do not believe that that will ever happen. The distance to the seat diagonally to the ear from each horn is 11' 6"

      Thanks for the comment
The PVC works really well to hold tonearms, I love functional simplicity.
Working...
