    The "Official" Big 4 Sports thread!

    Baseball - Basketball - Football - Hockey

    Talk about anything you wish regarding these four sports.

    Right now we have Basketball and Hockey playoffs happening and a fresh new Baseball season underway, so there should be plenty to talk about.

    My fave is Hockey, then Baseball, Basketball...with Football picking up the slack.

    I support:

    Baseball: Toronto Blue Jays
    Basketball: Toronto Raptors
    Football: Buffalo Bills
    Hockey: Montreal Canadiens

    Projections:

    Baseball: The JAYS are poised to make waves, but my biggest concern is leaving too many guys on base. I'd like them to step away from the power game a bit and focus more on the basics. With a little more balance in their game they can clinch a WS Final run.

    Basketball: Raptors have me pumped. They're showing a lot of heart and determination and it wouldn't surprise me if they take the CAVS to 7 games. Anything can happen, but I'll go with CAVS-WARRIORS final.

    Football: Not even thinking football at the moment.....

    Hockey: I'd love to see the St.Louis Blues win it all. It's been almost 50 years since they joined the NHL in 1967-68 and lost to the HABS in the Stanley Cup. They're a sentimental choice, but San Jose is not making it easy for them though. I'm picking a SAN JOSE-TAMPA BAY final.

      yeah, but when the fins had all those good teams with Marino in the 90's, the Jim Kelly led Bills were a thorn in our side.

      Yea, still couldn't believe Marino never got back to a Super Bowl after his rookie year. I was always a Marino fan, being a Pittsburgh alum.

    First live Bills game I ever saw was at Joe Robbie stadium in Miami. Forgot who won. I was in town for a company meeting and we all got polluted to really care. There were about 25 of us.

        I live in Pittsburgh (born and raised), so am naturally a diehard Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins fan. My Pens have dug themselves in a whole, but hopefully will bounce back tonight.

            I like the Pens as well but I think TB is hungrier.

              I came to Canada (from The Netherlands) and settled in Montreal. Lived there for 20 years, so the HABS are my team.

                Baseball: off season hand/eye coordination training
                Basketball: for tall people who can't skate
                Football: for people with a short attention span that also can't skate.
                Hockey: Kings fan now (been in California since 1980), grew up with Rangers, and was an Islander fan from the day they announced the franchise. Otherwise, i love all hockey at all levels (except for Flyers and Canucks). Season ticket holders for the old Clinton Comets and Mohawk Valley Comets of the old EHL and NAHL. My brother and father are in a scene in Slap Shot (in the stands, I couldn't make it that day, grrrrr...). Been a player, coach, administrator and USA Hockey Registrar. Wife and I use to run the fourth oldest youth hockey club in Southern California. Our son played, (state champion at 13, national champ at 16) and is trying to live the dream as a pro player now.

                Hockey is life...

                Pro bike racing is pretty cool, too. The Amgen Tour of California just finished and was a great race this year.

                  Yankees ("evil empire") fan here. No other sports exist during baseball season for me. Watch the Mets out of the corner of my because they have the best starting pitching in baseball.

                  When baseball season is over, then it's the NY Giants. A small side order of Knicks and Nets just because suffering is good for the soul as Browns fans know.

                        PENS 5 - LIGHTNING 2

                        Pens wisely had Murray between the pipes and Crosby scores his third game-winning goal of the series forcing a Game 7. Lightning were nowhere to be found in the first 2 periods. They tried to make a game of it in the third by scoring 2, but the PENS killed their hopes with a few minutes left and then an empty-netter. Should be a terrific Game 7 on Thursday.

                          A month ago you'd never have given the possibility of a RAPTORS-THUNDER championship series a thought. While I personally don't think that'll happen, it isn't inconceivable.
