  • What kind of audio system would The Donald own?

Its an election year for the highest office in the land, the front runners for the nomination appear to be Trump, Clinton, Cruz and Sanders. Not knowing what sort of system actually own or listen to at home, suggest a system for each of them...

The Donald:Something with gold and pink marble. I dunno. I've encountered him a few times in NY and 'upstate' where I live- he was low key, but he owes me a table at Luger's Steakhouse in Brooklyn for dinner. When I saw him a while ago in my neck of the woods, he was driving a brand new Rolls- not exactly the kind of car that is under the radar. Given his new role --i'm staying away from political commentary here-- I suspect he is a little less obvious just for safety reasons. Until he lands his jet with his name all over it in 13 foot high letters. Probably some bling, but who cares, right?
Hillary: she doesn't really know anything about any of that electronics stuff. She emails an assistant to call the person that turns on the music.
Ted: I'm thinking its the Playskool phono box his girls use, plus some ubiquitous home server that was installed by a professional- after all, who has time to deal w/ this stuff?
Bernie: his amps came from Russia, he still has the Rek-o-Kut table that has served him well since the '50s (the stylus may be a little bent) and it plays all those old Pete Seeger records just fine.
No political commentary intended, just poking fun at the obvious.

Trump's system would be something that is in your face the entire time. Hillary's would try to be pleasing at all times to all people. Bernie's would do one thing only but do it well, and Cruz's, well I don't think anyone would like his system at all!

PS Bill I can get a table at Luger's if you'll bring the cash!!

Beaur- back when i lived in Brooklyn Heights, there was period where I was doing Luger's in Brooklyn about 4 times a month. But, I always went for late lunch, to avoid the crowds at lunch and dinner. A client wanted me to take him, but insisted we had to go for dinner, despite my explaining we would get hosed by crowds, particularly if we wanted to sit in the old room on the main floor. We waited and waited, the place was wall to wall, for a table to open up- and it did- right near the entrance to the room, back wall- primo- and the house man says, just give us a minute to clean it up, then in walks the big D with blonde #? and it was, "Oh, Mr. Trump, your table is ready." So the Donald owes me a table.
I haven't been to Luger's in years- can't really eat that way anymore- butter over aged Porterhouse is a little much. I used to be able to kill a 'double' myself. Then there were the 'double chair' guys- you know what I'm talking about- too wide to fit on a single chair, no neck, members only jacket. That crew usually showed late lunch- the 'boys.'
PS- shortly after Goodfellas was in the theatre, Ray Liotta came in to Luger's- everyone in the 'room' was in awe- hey, it's the guy from the movie. Now, the movie usually only refers to The Godfather, usually denoted by 1 or 2 (nobody takes 3 seriously), Casino and a couple other older movies. But, at that time, it was Goodfellas. Ah, the good old days.

Been there done that, know exactly the types you speak of. We go about 2X a year. Usually for dinner but try to get reservations, still have to wait. Haven't tried my connection yet as I haven't been desperate.

I shouldn't eat that way either but I just can't help it. Could always get the salmon I suppose!

The Donald: pays the company to have Trump emblazoned in 6-inch letters in 24 K gold on the front of all the equipment.

Hilary: Has a special password installed to protect her music server.

Cruz: Since everything is bigger in Texas (yes I know he's from Canada 😎), he owns the biggest speakers made. Maybe a pair of Genesis 1s.

Bernie: Nothing flashy here. A Bose Lifestyle system suits his modesty.

Did anyone see the Stephen Colbert Show where he did something similar? Bernie had just aired a new campaign ad set to the music of Simon and Garfunkel and then asked what Paul Simon song would the other candidates choose? Hysterical. Like Chris Christie: Bridge Over Troubled Water. The Donald: Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard (not); Still Crazy After All These Years (yes).

Since Rubio is out of the race we can't really comment on his system, but according to Chris Christie (who looks a little like a Luger's regular customer), the Rubio system inexplicably winds up repeating the same passage multiple times.

Lincoln Chaffee's system is metric. Huh?
The guy I miss most from this circus-- and those of you who didn't watch the NY gubernatorial race might not have seen him, was "The Rent's Too Damn High" guy. (That was his slogan, and the only thing he said when asked anything at the debates or interviews. He was an old guy, black man with these great mutton chop whiskers who seemed, well, a little "off" ). He went the way of Lincoln Chaffee, quickly, quietly, we got Spitzer, if memory serves*, for a 'short stay' in the governor's mansion.
Mark McKinnon's documentary, Circus, is supposed to be brilliant, haven't seen it yet.

                  *Correction- Cuomo.

Guess Rubio is an analogue kind of guy! 😺
