I've only ever done short ribs in a slow-cooker.

I've done them in the slow cooker as well. Come out great. I mainly use the slow cooker in the winter when I don't feel like shoveling a path to the grill. Apart from audio, BBQ is my other hobby.

I hear ya about the snow. I oven-bake my ribs and then finish them on the grill in winter.

It was an Asian style rub that I picked up at Savory Spice shop in Princeton. Very aromatic - seemed to be a balance of Indian and Chinese influences:

I was a bit knife obsessive at one point and I lusted after a set of Ken Onion designed Shun knives. Back when Woot was a good website (pre-Amazon days) various Shun knives would turn up. One day they had an amazing deal on a large set that was exclusive to Williams-Sonoma. The Henkels have been in the drawer ever since.
