  • Any cooks in da house?

I love to cook. It is one of my passions. And while I'm no gourmet I can cook just about anything. Here's a few pics.

Damn John you just made me hungry. I love to cook as well but no fun just for myself but will on occasion make something special.

That's some good looking food Johnny! I too cook. I was texting pictures all day yesterday to Myles and Andre of the chicken tostadas I was making. Simple dish, but tons of prep work that starts with making the pico de gallo, mixing the mexican spice rub for the chicken, cooking the chicken, shredding the lettuce, cutting the avocado, and crumbling the Queso cheese and then finally assembling all of the ingredients after you have fried the tortilla shells, sprinkled them with Kosher salt, spread the tortilla shells with refried beans, sprinkled the Queso cheese on top of the refried beans, and placed the cooked chicken that you have sliced on top of the cheese and pop them into the broiler for 3 minutes. After that you place the avocados on top of the chicken, place the shredded lettuce on top of the chicken and then finish off with pico de gallo.

And then the most important part of the meal, fresh made margaritas. Fresh squeezed lime juice, triple sec, and Silver Patron tequila makes for one mighty tasting margarita. None of that anti-freeze mix ;you buy in a bottle from your local liquor store made with non-100% blue agave tequila.
Micro Seiki SX-8000 table with flywheel, SME 3012R arm, SME 312S arm, Lyra Etna SL and Dynavector XV-1S cartridges, ARC Ref 3 phono stage, Otari MX-55 tape deck, Ampex 350 repros, Roon Nucleus Plus server, PS Audio DSJ DAC, ARC Ref 6 pre, ARC Ref 75 amp, Parasound JC5 amp, JBL 4345 speakers, and Def Tech Ref subs.

Not you too Mark! I refuse to click on this thread anymore. My speciality is fettuccine Alfredo, I was taught a unique recipe when I worked in restaurants in my teen years. Also I make a mean chicken and dumplings with homemade dumplings for any of our southern state readers.

I do but don't have the time anymore. I do on occasion take cooking courses too. The best class I ever took was on knife skills. It's amazing how much simpler and less time it takes to prepare the meals when you know how to properly dice, chop, juilienne, etc. Plus the way you chop will also affect flavoring in your meal.

My one big meal a year is Thanksgiving. But I love to make chili and spaghetti sauce too! And some meals with shrimp; nothing like a good shrimp scampi with short grain brown rice!

My best meal used to be Xmas where used to make goose with a cornbread, sage and sausage stuffing. Now talk about taking a lot of preparation time.

First time trying brining last Thanksgiving. It was ok. I'm a person who doesn't use salt so was a bit too much salt for me. But the turkey was juicy as all get out!

ID:	4337 I also love shopping the farmer's markets for ingredients. This wasn't at home but the Farmers Market at the pier in SF last summer. To die for--including those SF lox sandwiches. I never saw a bigger bowl of spinach nor grapes laid out like that before. Ever see that many jalapeno peppers?

A simple garlic shrimp recipe! Wonderful bread from Orwashers in NYC to dip into the olive oil.

Many reasons. I like to stay in shape and cost?

But for sure, there's no shortage of great restaurants.

As good as I cook, real chefs are in another league. They look at putting dishes together as a chemistry experiment. Adding his acid to this base, extracting this oil, etc. Always amazes me.
