Excellent advice, Myles, although hard for many of us to follow. "Stable" body weight is not so important as "lower weight" in my opinion. Lots of younger folks are too heavy, and this leads to the expected poor health outcomes.

Over the years I've read many such studies and no realistic answers. There are also genetic issues and slowing down of metabolism as we age, diet and exercise is great but given today's America, American lifestyle and foods a very difficult thing for most to maintain and stick to a routine for all their lives.

For me it is a matter of discipline (which I clearly lack). I've been surprisingly good about food for close to the past two years, and dropped 25 pounds in the first year, but my weight seems totally related to how much time I spend at the gym and what I do there. If I go five or six days a week and spend 45 minutes on the elliptical trainer (keeping my heart rate around the 85% mark for most of the time) I can maintain my weight and continue dropping slowly. When I switched to 10 minute warm up on the elliptical and the the weight training machines (12 exercises, split between upper body, core and legs), weight loss stopped. dropping to three days a week for a bit and I instantly gained 10 pounds.

Need to drop 25 to 30 pounds still to get to my target.

Am I suppose to time travel?

I was poisoned by antibiotics and soy as a child. Had no idea. The repercussions have rang through my whole life.
